Poll Reveals That Trump Will Be Ousted by Democrats in 2020 Elections

A Fox News poll reveals a staggering majority believe Trump will lose the next election, in addition to uncovering interesting shifts in voters' perceptions.
When President Donald Trump was sworn in, many believed he would never make it to the end of his term. However, he is still standing after bulldozing his way to the White House with his unique brand of intelligence, much to the surprise of naysayers. Now, with the 2020 race beginning to heat up, a poll by Fox News has unveiled an interesting shift in opinions. Considering how far Trump has survived in office, many who were sure he would never stand for re-election are now having second thoughts. The number of voters who feel that the next Democratic nominee, whoever it may be, will have to lock horns with the current President of the United States to earn their spot in the White House is steadily increasing, with more and more feeling quite confident that President Trump will throw his hat in the ring for round two. Whether they think he will succeed, is a whole other story.

According to the poll whose results were made public on Thursday, the number of people who feel Trump would successfully complete his term as President has leaped from 58 percent in August 2017 to 70 percent now. In addition to this, the poll uncovered that at 80 percent an overwhelming percentage of people believe that the President will run again, while only 14 percent disagree with the possibility. Considering the President is not one to shy away from the spotlight and seems to have a real love affair with power, it does seem more likely that he will not relinquish his claim to the throne of America without a fight.

The numbers also indicate that the Republicans have unwaveringly held fast to the belief that Trump would make it to the finish line with 90 percent concurring with the fact two years ago and 94 percent now. But, in the case of Democrats and independents, perceptions have certainly shifted. In 2017, only 31 percent of Democrats felt that Trump would stay in office till the end of his term, while now, the numbers have climbed to 50 percent. As for the independents, the numbers have risen from 52 percent in 2017 to 62 percent now.

Even amid shifting tides, there are voters who still fiercely maintain that there is no way President Trump stays in power for all four years of his term, though the numbers are quite small at just 23 percent. Among the ones who feel this way, Democrats, quite unsurprisingly are at the forefront with 40 percent making up the total numbers. Daron Shaw, a Republican pollster who with Democrat Chris Anderson runs the Fox New Poll commented, "That may just be wishful thinking. The party distribution among those doubting Trump is heavily skewed towards the Democrats, most of whom concluded long ago that the president is guilty of a range of sins and transgressions."

Despite an increased number of voters agreeing that there is a very real chance, President Trump will run again, 15 percent of Trump voters and 17 percent of Republicans would rather someone else did, and hope that the GOP will choose to nominate a more suitable candidate. Of course, the number of Democrats that would like to see Trump kicked to the curb are infinitely higher at 84 percent. Among the independents, 65 percent would like to see another face while 70 percent non-whites and 62 percent among women feel the same.

Despite the President's many faux pas' at 36 percent, more than a third are comfortable with the idea of letting him continue his reign in the White House for another term. But, on the whole, 53 percent would rather he did not and instead another name be pulled out of the hat to replace him as the Republican nominee. As for the odds of the Democrats successfully ousting Trump? At 55 percent, a majority believe that the odds are good, while 26 percent feel the odds aren't great at all, and 13 percent think there's no way the Democrats will pull it off.

Chris Anderson commented, "As with most issues these days, expectations about the 2020 presidential election are largely processed through a partisan lens. Democrats are slightly more bullish about Trump being defeated than Republicans are about his re-election chances. But, big picture, Democrats and Republicans both feel pretty optimistic about their candidate winning in 2020." Which, is a fair assessment to make all things considered. But, of course, in the end, only one will make it all the way to the White House.
